Superoxide dismutase is an enzyme that catalyzes the dismutation of the superoxide radical into ordinary molecular oxygen (O2) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). It is extracted from the Roxburgh rose (Rosa Roxburghii, also known as chestnut rose) and has an enzyme activity of >= 8000 U/g.

It reduces inflammation, combats acne and protects the skin from environmental damage. It also prevents the formation of wrinkles and loss of elasticity and acts as an antioxidant. Superoxide dismutase helps to maintain the skin's youth.
